Reading Goal for the Year

snoopy reading.jpg

Next reading goal is 450 pages due May 15.

The only way to improve reading is to READ! Students are to read 100 minutes each week. They should bring their book with them to class each day. When they finish a book, they will write a book review & turn it in. Keep reading & writing book reviews until they reach 450 pages or more. All students who meet the goal will earn extra credit in the reading grade book & be invited to a lunchtime party! So, get your reading on!  Book review format is in their class folder. It can also be found in Mrs. Hartwig's resources (on this website).

Weekly Work at Home

*Please use the planner & class folder for complete instructions on how & when to complete assignments.

This week's work can be located in the calendar. All work is assigned Monday and due Friday. Some class time may be available throughout the week & students are encouraged to use their time in advisory class as well. In addition, students may use their library time (we will go once a week), but that will not begin until September.

This week please read over the class syllabus & student handbook with your child. Please return the parent signature & video permission form (same paper) to me signed. The syllabus is yours to refer to and is also found here on the website (see Mrs. Hartwig's resources section).

About Mrs. Hartwig

2018 marks my 25th year of teaching; 23 of those years have been here, at O'Hara Park! I have three children ages 16, 15, and 11. My husband teaches P.E. at Freedom High School.  I graduated from Chico State with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts and followed up with a multiple subject teaching credential from St. Mary's College. Later I earned a Reading Specialist Credential and a Master's Degree from Cal State Hayward. I truly enjoy 6th graders and I love what I do.
